What is an RMT?

How much space do I need?

I need enough space to set up my table and be able to walk around it.

Approx. 8 x 5 foot space

Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are licensed and regulated by provincial government health standards. They have received extensive training in the treatment and rehabilitation of muscular complaints, and their expertise is treatments oriented massage provided on a table.

In Alberta, RMT's are required to;

*Attend a massage school of a minimum of 2200 hours.

*Be registered with an Alberta Association.

*Complete continuing education courses every cycle.

*Have a current and up to date criminal record check, first aid with CPR-C and liability insurance.

What do I need at my house?

Nothing! I bring everything to you. Table, stool, lotion or gel, sheets, music, and pillows. 

What products are used?

I use an unscented lotion or gel. If you have a product you would like me to use, please have it ready and we can discuss if it can be used during your treatment.

Is there a weight limit for the
massage table?

I use Master Roma II 30-in. Portable Massage Table. It has a weight limit of 1500 lbs

Do you direct bill?

Yes. What should I wear?

This is to your comfort and the area that will be treated. Being able to have skin contact is preferred, to be able to use lotion for gliding on the skin. However, for massage to be affective you need to be relaxed and I am capable of providing massage techniques through sheets or clothes.

What is the benefit of
prenatal massage?

Reducing back pain, improve circulation, headaches, can improve sleep
 

Can I get massage when
I'm in my first trimester?

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, in the past massage has been contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy due to the thinking that it could cause complications or miscarriage. MASSAGE DOES NOT CAUSE MISCARRIAGE. Your baby is highly protected in your womb, if you require low back massage, then lighter pressure may be used during this time.
